A mother of two has been missing since a suspicious fire broke out at her Indiana home a week ago — with her distraught family panicked that “something bigger” has happened to her.
Firefighters were called to Brittany Gard’s home in Bainbridge on Tuesday, Sept. 30, to put out a small fire — but found no one home, despite the 46-year-old mom’s car and purse still being there.
“Who took her?” Gard’s sister Stephanie Bowen asked on WRTV on Monday.
Gard has not been seen since Tuesday, Sept. 30. Facebook/Find Britney Gard“How does someone just go missing these days? It doesn’t make any sense,” the sister said as her family scoured cornfields and woods near her home, roughly 35 miles west of Indianapolis.
“I feel like there’s something here bigger that we don’t know and someone knows something,” she said.
Gard’s family became worried after she didn’t show up to her daughter’s volleyball game on Wednesday — something they said she would not miss.
When they got to her house, it was in flames, WRTV reported.
“[Gard] wasn’t there. And then there’s a fire. Her car is at home, her purse is at home. She’s nowhere to be found, and the house is on fire. It makes no sense,” Bowen said.

In the meantime, Bowen asked locals to “be vigilant.”
“If you have a camera on your house or something, go back and look at it and see if you saw something different that night,” Bowen told the outlet. “Britney, we love you. We hope to see you safely return home.”
