A Texas mom returned home to find her two young kids and husband dead in an apparent murder-suicide, authorities said.

Rachel Dawson called 911 after she entered her house Saturday morning in North Richland Hills to a grisly scene, news station KPNX reported.

Police said her husband, Chris Dawson, shot their 9-year-old son, Luke, and 5-year-old daughter, Bree, before turning the gun on himself.

“She found them around 7 o’clock,” said the neighbor, who claimed to hear her screams from next door, the Fort-Worth Star Telegram reported.

Investigators are searching for a motive for the double-murder suicide. Before the incident, police had never been called to the home.

“There’s no history here,” police spokesperson Carissa Katekaru told the Fort-Worth Star Telegram. “We’re still trying to figure out why.”

Neighbors said the family recently moved in October to the quiet neighborhood.

Just days before the incident, they had decorated the home for the holidays, according to neighbors.

“They’ve been putting up the Christmas lights,” neighbor Tanner Franklin said. “You come out here and see them with the dad. They seemed normal, man.”
