A French mom was reunited with her 8-month-old baby boy after somehow getting separated from him during Thursday’s mayhem in Nice.
The tot, who was in a stroller, was lost amid the chaos along the seaside Promenade des Anglais, according to overseas media reports.
In a desperate attempt to find the boy, family and friends took to social media, posting messages and photos that were quickly shared hundreds of times.
One friend, Yohlaine Ramasitera, posted a photo of herself on Facebook with the boy and a caption, “If you see this child — contact me,” along with her phone number and the words, “Blue stroller.”
While the boy’s family was out searching for the child, another woman, Rebecca Boulanger, posted on Facebook: “VERY IMPORTANT. In the rush of things with shots being fired some friends of our friends lost their baby boy!!! A 8-10 month old beautiful baby.
“PLEASE [PRAY] WITH US THEY WILL FIND HIM: an enlarged family group are out to find him amidst the uncertainty,” she wrote.
Boulanger — who said she and her family decided to stay home instead of watching the Bastille Day fireworks “as we usually do” — later updated her post with the joyous news that an unidentified woman had found the unattended tot.
“Baby Boy is well!!! He is back with his family!!!” wrote Boulanger. “Thank you Lord!!! With such a horrible night it is such a miracle that through all the sharing on Facebook he was found!”
A friend of the family told AFP that “A young woman had picked him up and taken him home. She then went online and found the photo of the baby” on Facebook and quickly made contact with the parents.
It’s unclear how the boy became separated from his mother — whose identity was not immediately revealed.
Tiava Banner, another family friend who confirmed the good news on Facebook, posted that members of the infant’s family are hospitalized.
At least 84 people were killed and more than 100 wounded in the attack on Nice.
