WASHINGTON — If Ben Carson is lying about trying to stab a kid when he was 14, so is his mother.

Buzzfeed News on Monday unearthed a 1997 interview in which his mother, Sonya, confirms it.

“Oh, that really happened,” she told Parade Magazine.

“I sat down with him and told him you don’t accomplish much by being a bully. You accomplish more with kindness than you ever do by being harsh.”

Carson has changed one element of the stabbing story, saying it was a cousin, not a friend named Bob, he tried to stab.

Sonya Carson is currently battling Alzheimer’s disease.

Elements of Carson’s inspirational biography have come under fire, with reports questioning if the stabbing story is real.
