Theilau Probost, one of the restaurant’s owners, also shared the news in an Instagram Story, explaining, “I was the last one leaving the building. 15 min later I got a call telling me that Maison Close Montauk was on fire. Few people saw what happened.”

The waterfront East Hampton Town venue had been slated to open for the holiday weekend with “a new al fresco atmosphere” while “blending the most iconic aspects of New York and French culture,” according to a press release.

Maison Close Montauk had planned to boast “French cuisine, elevated beverages, and a celebratory atmosphere,” according to its website.

An Instagram page for the venue shows colorful craft cocktails in a stylish white tablecloth setting.

The Soho venue recently hosted jeweler Jennifer Fisher’s birthday, which brought out celebrities such as Savannah Guthrie and Jason Biggs.

Matt Damon is also spotted there regularly.

The fire comes after East Hampton police threatened to shut restaurants that clear the floor for patrons to danceas the summer season starts, irking many bars and restaurants.

The East Hampton Town Fire Department confirmed the blaze on East Lake Drive to The Post but provided no additional information Friday.

Fire Chief David Browne declined to comment, saying only that the inferno was “still under investigation.”
