The massive search for two escaped convicts stretched into day 7 on Saturday as the rain poured down and state police focused on a remote area just a few miles from the Clinton Correctional Facility.

Authorities swarmed nearby Cadyville where a tipster reported seeing two men fitting the fugitives’ description “jumping over a wall,” sources said.

Cops were also scrutinizing surveillance video from a gas station near the prison. They also opened manholes and searched underground pipes for clues and to make sure the pair had not slipped inside.

More than 800 law enforcement officers, along with K9 units and aircraft, took part in the dragnet, along with the FBI and other agencies.

State Police Major Charles Guess said the weather hampered the search — but also made it tougher on the fugitives.

He added there was no evidence that they fled the area but also said there had been no confirmed sightings.
