CAIRO — An investigation will be launched over allegations that now-toppled President Mohammed Morsi broke out of jail with help from Hamas during Egypt’s 2011 revolution, officials said yesterday.
Critics of his reign, which was abruptly ended by the military on July 3, say proof of foreign intervention on Egyptian soil could lead to charges of treason.
Morsi has been held at a Defense Ministry facility since his ouster.
