MSNBC’s Joy Reid suggested that Florida has descended into an “extremist right-wing, fascist-type government,” while railing against the failure of the Amendment 4 ballot measure that would’ve enshrined abortion rights in the state’s constitution.
“It’s a pure Project 2025 in miniature in Florida,” Reid vented on an MSNBC election night panel. “That kind of extremist right-wing, fascist-type government in Florida — does that make it a more attractive place — or does it make it more like some of the other Southern states that don’t get investment?”
Reid is widely known for her incendiary rhetoric against Republicans.
The Amendment 4 ballot measure would’ve needed to surpass a 60% threshold in order to go into effect but is widely projected to have come up short.

Florida has a so-called “heartbeat bill” on the books that prohibits abortion after six weeks’ gestation.
The failure of Amendment 4 marks one of the first major ballot measure setbacks for abortion rights activists since the Supreme Court’s 2022 overturn of Roe v. Wade.
