Nancy Pelosi’s son said doctors are slowly putting his dad, Paul, back together after he was attacked with a hammer during a harrowing home invasion.
“They are rebuilding him slowly,” Paul Pelosi Jr. said outside the Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center on Sunday evening.
The younger Paul was visiting his dad and left the hospital just before 7:30 p.m. local time.
The speaker of the House also visited her husband yesterday, with sources telling The Post she stayed by his side for several hours.
Paul Sr. had suffered a fractured skill when a crazed man, David DePape, who harbored conspiratorial beliefs, broke into the couple’s San Francisco mansion early Friday.
DePape was allegedly carrying zip ties with him and shouted “Where is Nancy?,” according to reports Sunday. He attempted to tie the Democratic congresswoman’s husband up and said they would wait for his wife — who was in Washington, DC, at the time — to come home.
The elder Pelosi was able to secretly call the police from the bathroom, and when officers arrived, there was a struggle over the hammer, resulting in DePape hitting Paul Sr. in the head. The intruder was arrested at the scene.
DePape is expected to be hit with attempted murder, assault and elder abuse as well as other charges on Monday, and will likely be arraigned Tuesday.
The break-in fueled unfounded conspiracy theories that Paul Pelosi Sr. and DePape knew each other before the attack that were shared by the likes of Twitter owner and Tesla CEO Elon Musk. The San Francisco district attorney clarified Sunday that the two men were strangers.
