Dramatic photos show rescuers pulling a couple from the rubble of their suburban Nashville home, destroyed by the tornadoes that ripped through Tennessee early Tuesday.
Bill and Shirley Wallace’s home in Mt. Juliet collapsed on them, trapping them under the wreckage, the Tennessean reported.

Another photo showed Shirley being carried in the arms of a rescuer, before she was taken for medical attention.

Billy had called his parents to warn them about the twisters, and the couple went down to their basement, where they became trapped.

It also destroyed the tower and stained glass of the historic Hopewell Baptist Church, which had been there since 1823.
The other tornado damaged more than 100 structures in Putnam County.
The death toll steadily climbed as first responders sorted through the wreckage, reaching 25 by Tuesday afternoon.
