The replacement for outgoing Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) acting director Todd Lyons was announced Tuesday.
“Dave Venturella will serve as Acting ICE Director following Todd Lyons’ departure,” a DHS spokesperson said in a statement.

Venturella, who had been overseeing contracts for immigration detention facilities, previously held roles at the agency under former Presidents Barack Obama and George W. Bush.

Lyons’ last day at ICE is May 31.
The agency has not had a Senate-confirmed director since Sarah Saldaña took over the job in December 2014, serving until the end of Barack Obama’s term of office.
