A New Mexico man bit a police dog during a six-hour standoff with the cops on Thursday, authorities said.

The savage suspect was armed with an ax and had been fighting with a woman inside a Rio Rancho home when police showed up around 1:30 a.m., KOAT-TV reported.

The woman was seriously injured, but managed to escape, cops said.

Meanwhile, the creep, who wasn’t publicly identified, barricaded himself inside the home.

That’s when cops sent in a K-9 unit and the perp chomped down on the puppy’s neck. According to KOB4-TV, the canine also bit the man.

The dog was taken to the veterinarian and put on antibiotics.

After a six-hour standoff with a SWAT team, the man, who suffered minor injuries, was arrested and charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
