HARTFORD, Conn. — Dozens of charities that collected funds after the Newtown school massacre have reported raising nearly $20.4 million — but distributing only about $2.9 million of that, according to Connecticut authorities.

State Attorney General George Jepsen and Consumer Protection Department Commissioner William Rubenstein said yesterday that they have identified 69 charities involved with raising money after the Dec. 14 incident.
