US Ambassador Nikki Haley assailed Russia on Wednesday for failing to control its ally Syria a day after a suspected chemical attack left more than 70 people dead, including 20 children.

“When the United Nations consistently fails in its duty to act collectively, there are times in the life of states that we are compelled to take our own action,” she told an emergency Security Council meeting about Syria.

“How many more children have to die before Russia cares?” Haley said about the harrowing attack on a rebel-held town in Idlib province.
