Get dolled up, grab a gun and smile for the camera.
Those were the instructions from Norway shooter Anders Behring Breivik, who in his manifesto detailed how his followers should get professionally shot photos of themselves.
Breivik wrote that some of the resources of those who agree with him should be devoted to getting the good photos shot, after which all other pictures should be deleted.
“The police usually ‘leak’ ‘retarded looking’ photos to the press after raiding the cells apartment after an operation,” he wrote.
Those involved in the struggle, he wrote, should prepare for photo shoots by working out, resting in a solarium, getting a haircut, and shaving.
“Visit a male salon if possible and apply light makeup,” he wrote. “Yes, I know – this might sound repulsive to big badass warriors like us, but we must look our best for the shoot.”
Breivik clearly followed his own advice. Photos that cropped up of him after he bombed Oslo and then shot scores on a nearby island show him in what appears to be a diving suit holding a rifle with lights on it and standing in a uniform covered in medals.
The instructions in the manifesto, “Islamification of Europe,” show how minutely detailed his plans were.
