Fur-crazy New Yorkers are calling on the Central Park Zoo to replace Gus the polar bear with a cuddly orphaned cub — just like the one Buffalo adopted earlier this year.

Animal lovers say zoo honchos must search for an abandoned cub after the loss of Gus, who died last week at age 27.

“We want a baby polar bear to replace Gus, not a baby seal. Let’s honor Gus, Ida, & Lily!” Twitter user @rwnyc wrote Friday, referencing three polar bears who died at the zoo.

In May, the Buffalo Zoo took in Kali, 9 months, when his mother was shot by hunters in Point Lay, Alaska.
