President Obama, a well-known workout buff, has jumped on the Fitbit bandwagon.

He was seen Tuesday wearing Fitbit’s Surge Fitness Superwatch, which monitors the body – recording workouts, measuring the heart rate, counting calories and even telling time, the Daily Mail reported.

The tech-savvy commander-in-chief told Re/code recently that he also was interested in the Apple Watch.

“I don’t have a Fitbit yet, but I work out hard,” he said in the February interview. “Word is these Apple Watches might be a good companion for my workouts. So I’m gonna see, I’m gonna test it out.”

He apparently decided to ditch his Jorg Grey 6500 Chronograph in favor of the Fitbit Surge, which retails for $250.

He told Re/code that he chooses his gadgets carefully and has stuck with his high-security BlackBerry for messages and Apple iPad for “non-work-related stuff.”

Fitbits also can communicate with mobile devices to store data – but, sadly for Obama, his BlackBerry is incompatible.

His new toy also has a golf mode in its special exercise settings.
