Two Queens detectives have been cleared of obstruction of justice after they were accused of blocking a prosecutor from questioning a drunken colleague following a fatal car crash four years ago.
An NYPD administrative judge has ruled that Detectives Richard Tirelli and Michael Failla did not intentionally keep an assistant district attorney from talking to Detective Robert Bolson at North Shore University Hospital on April 26, 1998.
In a hearing last April, ADA Joshua Mandell had said that the detectives thwarted his investigation by blocking him from Bolson’s hospital room.
