An off-duty state trooper wearing a Star Wars Stormtrooper costume prevented a suspected drunken driver from heading the wrong way down a highway in Las Vegas, authorities said.

Trooper Britta Foesch was driving home from a Halloween party in a Stormtrooper costume around 1:30 a.m. Saturday when she saw the driver of a Toyota Prius trying to enter Interstate 15 in the wrong direction, the Nevada Highway Patrol said.

Footage on Foesch’s personal dash camera showed her in costume — sans helmet — pull over the vehicle, then call fellow troopers to the scene.

The driver — whom cops identified as Matthew Clendaniel, 27 — was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, driving without a valid driver’s license and two traffic violations, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported.

The highway patrol said it would “not recommend citizens stop on the freeway take matters into their own hands but Trooper Foesch is a trained professional.”

“There is no doubt that Trooper Foesch’s actions potentially saved lives this morning,” the agency said. “The FORCE is strong in Trooper Foesch!”
