Italians flying back to Rome from the Catholic shrine at Lourdes, France, had to dump their Madonna-shaped bottles of holy healing water because they contained more than three ounces of liquid.

The Lourdes airport refused special dispensation on its security policy last Monday, even though the 145 pilgrims were on a Vatican-backed charter.
