A parole officer in Ohio has been charged with sexually assaulting three women whose cases he oversaw, police said.
Keith Cooper, a 50-year-old employee with the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections, was arrested Monday on charges of rape, gross sexual imposition and two counts of sexual battery after three women said he victimized them while they were on parole between June 2016 and July 2017, the Record-Courier reports.
Police in Streetsboro said detectives started investigating Cooper after a woman accused him of sexual assault in 2017. Authorities in Portage County and Newton Falls are also looking into sexual assaults allegedly committed by the parole officer.
Cooper, who worked in Portage and Trumbull counties in the Buckeye State, has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of his case.
He was released from custody Monday after posting bail. A judge ordered him to stay away from the victims, WOIO reports.
Cooper, of Trent, is set to return to court on Aug. 21.
Anyone with information about Cooper is being asked to contact their local police departments, Cleveland.com reports.
