An Oklahoma man is accused of kidnapping a woman and forcing her to earn money for him by dancing at a strip club, authorities said.

Gary Ballard, 29, of Tulsa allegedly “repeatedly and violently” hurt the 23-year-old victim and drove her to Kansas, where he held her captive, the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release.

The woman was reported missing from Coweta, Oklahoma on Dec. 6 and the sheriff’s office was tipped off two weeks later that she may be in Kansas.

They found her in an area gentlemen’s club where she was dancing “for the purposes of making [Ballard] money,” the sheriff’s office said.

Ballard, who has a prior conviction of shooting with intent to kill in Oklahoma, was arrested and charged with human trafficking and kidnapping, authorities said.

He’s being held in Cherokee County jail on $200,000 bond.
