Four people were wounded, including a suspect, and another suspect was killed when an armed robbery erupted in gunfire outside a multimillion-dollar Hollywood Hills home early Friday, Los Angeles police said.
The incident unfolded when two suspects in ski masks approached two men at about 2 a.m. outside the home, owned by Fashion Nova founder and CEO Richard Saghian, and ordered them to the ground, LAPD Det. Meghan Aguilar told NBC Los Angeles.
“They were armed with handguns, they forced them on the ground, they took property,” Aguilar said. “At which point, another man, a security guard, came out and there was an exchange of gunfire.”
The security staffer was working for Saghian at the time, a source close to the matter confirmed to The Post Friday.
The fashion entrepreneur, who was inside his home, was not a victim of the robbery and was not hurt, the source said. However, two law enforcement sources told the Los Angeles Times that Saghian was the apparent target.
Victims were reportedly shot during an attempted holdup outside the Los Angeles party. BackgridInvestigators believe the robbery suspects may have followed Saghian’s Rolls-Royce into Hollywood Hills, where it stopped at his mansion as he got out. However, it is unclear if the suspects were targeting him, or the pricy vehicle, the Times reported.
The security guard stationed at Saghian’s house was shot in the stomach and taken to a hospital in critical condition, police said. Two other victims struck in the gunfire were hospitalized in stable condition.
The guard managed to return fire, however, striking two of the suspects, one fatally, LAPD spokesman Jeff Lee said.
The suspects then took off in an Audi and were later apprehended in Beverly Hills. One suspect was pronounced dead at the scene and another was taken to a hospital with gunshot wounds. A third suspect, who was in the car and was not hurt, was taken into custody, Lee said.

A spokeswoman for the LAPD said she could not confirm the number of shooting victims. BackgridWitnesses told TMZ they heard about 10 gunshots fired after three gunmen drove up to the home and wounded a security guard, who told cops he was an off-duty LAPD officer.
Lee told The Post the wounded security guard was not an officer with the department, but may work for another law enforcement agency.
Earlier Friday, witnesses told KTLA the three victims were working as security guards for a client in Hollywood Hills where a house party was held late Thursday. Several high-end vehicles were seen outside the residence early Friday.
One person, a suspect in the shooting was reportedly found dead inside of a car. BackgridA source close to Saghian, however, told The Post Friday afternoon that no party was held at his residence Thursday.
Video shows several ambulances and police vehicles responding to the neighborhood, as well as the Audi, which had a flat tire and an open trunk as a horn blared.
