One person was killed and another wounded in an “active shooter” incident on a Tennessee naval base early Sunday, according to reports.

The deadly gunplay occurred at a recreational lodging area of Naval Support Activity Mid-South in Millington, Tenn. around 2:51 a.m., the U.S. Navy’s public affairs office told CBS affiliate WREG.

Two people were struck — one fatally — before cops responding to reports of an active shooter near the base’s golf course nabbed the gunman alive, officials told Fox 13 – Memphis.

The shooter, whose motive remains unclear, is one of three people in custody, WREG reported.

Neither the victims nor those in custody were immediately identified by name, but officials said that no active military members were involved.

Anyone staying in the lodging area, however, would have to be sponsored by a military dependent, officials told WREG.
