An adorable puppy has been rescued after being found next to his dead mother’s body in Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi’s obliterated compound.
Photojournalist Fared Alhor found the shaken-looking pooch after riding four hours by motorbike to Barisha to document where the ISIS leader blew himself up once cornered by US forces.
Hesitant at first, the whimpering, dust-covered puppy finally left the side of its dead mother’s body, allowing Alhor to rescue it.
He then took it to a safer place, introducing it to other dogs — before taking it to a vet for vaccines and a checkup.
“We will live a happy life after all,” Alhor tweeted Wednesday as he showed the cleaned-up dog he has named BoBe.
“Today #BoBe and I went to the clinic for [a] vaccine and treatment,” he wrote, saying the dog appeared “very happy.”
“A few days later he will have a home,” he said, saying BoBe was now “very happy.”
