The California couple suspected of murdering their 7-month-old son Emmanuel Haro were officially charged in his death Tuesday — after being linked to a child-abuse report called in on the day he vanished.

Jake and Rebecca Haro face a murder rap and a charge of filing a false police report after they told cops their baby was abducted by a mysterious stranger outside a sporting-goods store in San Bernardino on August 14.

Authorities have cited “inconsistencies’’ in Rebecca’s story that led them to suspect the parents but offered no further details, including why they believe Emmanuel is dead.

His body has yet to be found.

But Riverside County sheriffs revealed that they responded to a report of suspected child abuse near the sporting-goods store on the same day Emmanuel vanished — and that the Haros are linked to that probe.

Sheriffs said the report involved a home on Cottonwood Avenue in Moreno Valley, just down the road from the Big 5 Sporting Goods where Rebecca, 41, claimed an unseen man knocked her unconscious and carried off Emmanuel.

The couple also has a 2-year-old daughter, who is now in the custody of Riverside County Child Protective Services, according to NBC 4.

• Parents Jake and Rebecca Haro were arrested on Aug. 22 on murder charges a week after their 7-month-old son Emmanuel went missing in Cabazon, Calif.
• The mother previously claimed their baby boy was abducted after a man attacked her outside of a sporting goods store in Yucaipa on Aug. 14 — but police said there were inconsistencies with her story.
• Jake Haro’s car was seized by police days later for evidence as the search continued for Emmanuel. The father previously served a prison sentence for child cruelty stemming from an incident in 2018 and is currently on probation.
• Police officers stormed into the Haros’ house and arrested them after determining there was no abduction. “It is believed Emmanuel is deceased, and the search to recover his remains is ongoing,” the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said in a statement.
• Jake Haro was seen in an orange prison jumpsuit assisting police officers in the search for Emmanuel’s remains off of a highway in Moreno Valley, Calif. on Aug. 24.

“The investigation is related to the Haros and no further details are available,’’ authorities said in a statement, referring to the child-abuse report.

“On August 21, 2025, at 12:30 p.m., deputies were dispatched to the 23000 block of Cottonwood Avenue, Moreno Valley regarding the report of child abuse. Investigators responded to the location regarding the allegations, and the investigation remains ongoing. No further details are available at this time.”

Rebecca maintained Emmanuel had been abducted even after her arrest, insisting she had nothing to do with her son’s disappearance and that he could still be alive.

“I want to be out looking for my baby. … I will not give up. I will not give up on my baby,” she told Southern California News Group on Sunday.

She added that her husband is a “good dad” who would “never hurt a baby.”

Jake, 32, was previously found guilty of child cruelty in 2023.

The dad, clad in an orange prison jumpsuit, was spotted with San Bernardino County Sheriff’s deputies in a field in Moreno Valley on Sunday, although the department said he was not assisting with the search, according to ABC 7.
