It was another rough weekend for AirAsia.

One of the Indonesian airline’s commercial jets lost an engine to an explosion this weekend and the airline thought it could push passengers — already panicked over doomed Flight 8501 — back on the flight without a problem.

But the jittery passengers refused to reboard, fearing they would suffer a similar fate.

AirAsia Flight 7633 was taxiing before takeoff Saturday at Juanda International Airport in Surabaya when a mysterious blast rang out through the cabin.

“The plane was ready and moved — but suddenly a loud sound was heard,” passenger Yusuf Fitriadi told Indonesia’s Metro TV. “The sound of the engine disappeared and the plane moved backwards. We were shocked and panicked,” he added.

AirAsia officials quickly downplayed the incident.

“Silly headlines in Malaysia,” said airline head Tony Fernandes.

Meanwhile, Indonesia has suspended AirAsia’s flights on the Surabaya-Singapore route of the crashed Flight 8501.
