Packages could wait — but patriotism could not for one FedEx deliveryman.

Marine veteran Mike King stopped mid-route this week when he spied a fallen flagpole, and a crumpled Old Glory on a family’s front yard in Ferndale, Md.

When he couldn’t stand the downed flag pole — toppled during a particularly windy Wednesday — King carefully folded the flag into a proper triangle and tucked it safely into a box on the family’s front porch.

The Cook family wasn’t home at the time, but their surveillance camera caught King performing the patriotic act.

“I hope he gets the recognition he deserves, I can’t thank him enough!” Gail Cook, wrote on Facebook, noting he took the time out on one of the busiest delivery weeks of the year, right after Cyber Monday.

Facebook users from across the country lauded King in the comments section of Cook’s post.

“I just read about this on our local Cleveland Ohio news. How awesome! Brought a proud tear to my eyes. Thank you for serving … and thank you for your humble pride and dedication,” Cindy Nichols wrote.
