‘Perv’ Elmo wins 2 Emmys
Daytime Emmy judges are still tickled by Elmo.
Kevin Clash, 53, who played “Sesame Street’s” furry red Muppet for 25 years, snagged an award for Outstanding Performer in a Children’s Series at the Daytime Emmys Creative Arts gala Friday night in Los Angeles, as well as one for Outstanding Directing.
Judges apparently weren’t influenced by the gay underage-sex scandal that has dogged Clash since November, when the first of five men filed lawsuits against him. “On the inside he’s still a monster,” said Cecil Singleton, 24, Clash’s second accuser, who said he hopes this will be the puppeteer’s last Emmy haul.
Clash left “Sesame Street” after the second accusation.
