Drawing on the idealism of former President John F. Kennedy, Peter Buttigieg is asking Americans what they can do for their country — through national service.
Navy vet Buttigieg, one of a number of Democratic presidential candidates stumping through the first-voting state of Iowa during the Fourth of July weekend, proposed “A New Call to Service” plan to have 1 million Americans participate in service opportunities by 2026.
Service fellows would be considered for loan forgiveness.
