It was gearing up to be a disastrous climax.

A couple “getting busy” in their car nearly ended in tragedy after their SUV rolled into a Philadelphia river in the middle of the night while they were in the backseat.

The lovebirds were having sex in a 2020 Range Rover near the Schuylkill River in Fairmount Park around 4:15 a.m. Wednesday when one of their limbs bumped into the SUV’s gear stick, police told NBC10.

Moments later, the Range Rover tumbled over the edge and sank into the water, about two miles from Philadelphia City Hall.

The incident occurred mere weeks after a separate car drove into the Schuylkill River, according to Fox 29.

A witness fishing during the crash told the outlet they saw a four-door sedan driving near the river when it suddenly slammed on its brakes and then backed into the waterway.

Strangely enough, no one was found inside that sedan when rescuers rushed to the scene, despite all four doors being locked.

The Philadelphia Police Department is still investigating the Aug.16 incident.
