A Philadelphia cop is clinging to life after he was shot in the neck during a Saturday night traffic stop.

The violence unfolded around 8 p.m. on F street in the city’s Kensington neighborhood, Philadelphia Police Commissioner Kevin Bethel told reporters.

The officer and his partner were inspecting a car they had pulled over and noticed a gun holster — prompting one of the four occupants to flee.

The man fired three times at the cops as he ran, striking one officer at least one time in the neck, Bethel said.

The second cop fruitlessly returned fire before rushing his injured partner to Temple University Hospital Emergency, where he remains in critical condition and is undergoing surgery.

The suspect was apprehended not long after the shooting, according to Bethel.

The occupants of the car are also in police custody.

According to officials, the injured cop is a six-year veteran of the force.

“It is not lost on me that today a husband, a father and a son met his partner and went to work to do a job that he’s been doing for about six and a half years. He didn’t expect that he would be in a fight for his life right now,” said Mayor Cherelle Parker.

The gunfire erupted more than three miles from where former President Donald Trump was giving a campaign rally.
