SHAKER HEIGHTS, Ohio — Police in a Cleveland suburb say a 71-year-old woman was mauled to death by a pit bull.

Cleveland resident Annie Williams was attacked Sunday afternoon in Shaker Heights and died at a hospital.

A 911 caller told a dispatcher that she saw the dog on top of the victim.

Police say the dog was shot by a neighbor who saw the attack. Another caller said the dog ran off after it was shot.

Officers killed the dog after finding it in a back yard.
