Opera superstar Placido Domingo has been hospitalized in Spain after suffering a blockage in an artery of the lungs.

Domingo, 72, was admitted to the hospital Monday in Madrid.

He is expected to make a full recovery, but will have to miss several performances scheduled for later this month, his representative, Nancy Seltzer, said.

Doctors say the pulmonary embolism was caused by a blood clot.
