A plane crashed in a remote area of southern Vermont, leaving three people injured as emergency crews battled “difficult conditions” to reach them Wednesday.
The plane crashed into the top of Mount Equinox, a 3,000-foot peak in Bennington County, at around 8:30 a.m. after taking off from Baltimore at around 6 a.m., according to the flight tracking website FlightRadar24.

“Difficult conditions,” including snow, ice, and fog, as well as the remoteness of the location, were making it hard for police, fire, and rescue teams to reach the crash site, Manchester Town Manager Scott Murphy told the Vermont Digger.
Firefighters urged people to avoid Old Route 7 as emergency vehicles are on the roads while helicopters have been scrambled to the scene, reports WMTW.
The Rutland City Fire Department received a request for additional resources to respond to the small plane crash, firefighter Kyle Robillard told the Vermont Digger.
The site of crash is reportedly quite remote.

The aircraft was a Piper Cherokee Charger small plane capable of accommodating three passengers as well as the pilot, according to FlightRadar24.
