The planet’s most high-powered race car was unveiled this week in London, and is gearing up to smash the world’s land-speed record of more than 800 mph.

The supersonic vehicle — called the Bloodhound — can travel at breakneck speeds of up to 1,000 mph in just 55 seconds, and can reach a mile in only 3.6 seconds, the BBC reported.

Stretching 44 feet long, the Bloodhound will attempt to break the land speed record set by Andy Green back in 1997 when he reached 763 mph in his Thrust SSC.

The sleek orange and blue vehicle that took nearly eight years to perfect boasts a Rolls-Royce EJ200 jet engine from a Eurofighter Typhoon, a peppering of Nammo hybrid rockets and a Jaguar V8 engine. Together they generate a whopping 135,000 horsepower.
