A group of men raped a woman outside a nightclub in France, as callous passersby did nothing to help and instead filmed the assault and posted it to social media, according to local reports.
Police in Toulouse are on the hunt for four men between the ages of 25 and 30, who can be seen in at least three videos, posted to Snapchat and Twitter, raping a 19-year-old woman in the parking lot of the nightclub Carpe Diem in Balma on Saturday night.
Local cops were alerted to the attack after the videos were flagged to France’s national digital surveillance cell and were investigating Wednesday when the victim came forward after learning the clips were circulating on social media.
“The way they broke me, the way they humiliated me, nothing can relieve that. But the video, which were shared, where you see my body, where you see me being humiliated … It’s a vulnerability I’ll have to bear my entire life,” she told radio station Radio Capitole.
Investigators also are looking for at least three people who filmed the assault and did nothing to intervene, according to local outlet La Depeche du Midi. The charge of complicity can be punished by up to five years in prison and over $80,000 in France.
The woman told the radio station she fears she may have been slipped the date-rape drug GHB and only remembers slivers of the assault.
The videos have been deleted by the Interior Ministry’s Pharos program, which removes graphic and violent internet content. Police began urging people Monday not to share the images.
