Follow along on our election results map as the race for the White House between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris nears the finish line.
More than 155 million Americans voted in the 2020 presidential election, the highest proportion of the voting-eligible population to participate since 1900.
This time, indications are that turnout will drop from that high level, though it has yet to be determined whether 2024 will top the 128.8 million Americans who voted in 2016.
While all 50 states and the District of Columbia will make their voices heard, the race will come down to seven swing states: Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.
All 435 seats in the House of Representatives are also on the line, with Republicans trying to expand on the three-seat majority with which they ended the 118th Congress.

In the Senate, Democrats face an uphill battle to hold on to their 51-49 advantage, with the GOP expected to flip Democrat-held seats in Montana and West Virginia. Republicans will also be hoping to unseat incumbents Sherrod Brown in Ohio, Bob Casey in Pennsylvania, and Tammy Baldwin in Wisconsin, while entrusting Ted Cruz and Rick Scott to keep their seats in Texas and Florida, respectively.
Just 11 governorships are at stake Tuesday, with the tightest contest likely to be in New Hampshire, where former Sen. Kelly Ayotte will want to keep the executive mansion in Republican hands by turning back a Democratic challenge from Joyce Craig, the former mayor of Manchester, the Granite State’s largest city.
