Nearly a thousand people marched in Times Square Saturday to protest President Trump’s airstrike in Baghdad that killed Iranian military general Qassem Soleimani.

“US out of the Middle East!” “Humanity first, not America First!,” and, “Hey hey, ho ho, these endless wars have got to go!” they chanted.

The demonstration began at 11 a.m. with about 50 people at West 47th Street and Broadway, but gathered steam as it moved south to Macy’s Herald Square.

Jon Stubbs, 54 from Brooklyn, carried a flag depicting the planet Earth.

“Even I get tricked into thinking, well, maybe violence is OK in certain circumstances, but it’s not. If you want peace, you have to sow the peace, and that’s what we are doing here,” he said.

“We are here protesting US imperialism, on the whole. Both political both sides are complicit,” said Max Monheit, 21, who came from Philadelphia. “I’m 21, so my entire life, the US has been at war and it’s f–king depressing.”

A woman who identified herself as Phyllis from Code Pink, a women’s grassroots organization, bristled, “I want peace, and I’m outraged at the idea of potentially getting into World War III.”

Others carried signs naming activist groups including the Party for Socialism and Liberation, the Workers World Party, Freedom Socialist, CUNY Internationalist Clubs, the New York Communist Party and the Raging Grannies.

Kathleen Tepper, 83, said her daughter has served as a US military doctor in Iraq.

“I’m here because war is stupid. And we’re paying billions and trillions of dollars in taxpayer money to kill people in other countries. And when we do that, we also kill people here,” she said.

Tourists were taken by surprise. Ryan Rickert, 36, was eating sushi and fruit in Herald Square when the rally suddenly surrounded him and his friend William Spratt, 23.

“We are visiting from Montana and just trying to eat lunch. We were surprised to see the cops arrive with their plastic handcuffs ready for action.”

But the NYPD reported no arrests.

Singing and strumming his guitar, the Naked Cowboy wore only briefs with the letters TRUMP on his behind. He defended the president.

“We’ve always been at odds with Iran and these different people. It’s a direct message: Don’t mess with America. Finally someone has some balls, not like Obama. I mean, Trump is all about strength, he’s a strong man.”

On Friday night, a group of anti-war protesters rallied outside Sen. Chuck Schumer’s Brooklyn apartment on Prospect Park West.

Members of groups including the Democratic Socialists of America argued the killing of Soleimani could set the stage for another long war.
