Staffers for Joe Biden are working to arrange a call between the former vice president and President Trump over the coronavirus crisis, according to reports.
Biden told reporters of the effort to connect over the phone with Trump late Thursday during a virtual fundraiser, Axios reports.
“Yesterday, the Trump administration suggested I should call the president to offer my help,” Biden said with a laugh. “Well, I’m happy to hear he’ll take my call; my team’s working with him with set it up.”
No timeframe for the call was offered, according to the report.
Trump, meanwhile, said during a White House press briefing Wednesday that he’d “love” to talk to Biden about the growing coronavirus outbreak.

Trump also referred to Biden as “Sleepy Joe” during the briefing. Earlier Wednesday, Biden’s campaign offered to connect with Trump after presidential adviser Kellyanne Conway asked why Biden doesn’t “call the White House” to offer his support.
