The people behind “Dark Brandon” want to ensure that Donald Trump isn’t all alone in his Truth Social enclave.
President Biden’s re-election campaign confirmed Monday that it launched an account on the Trump-created and -owned platform, where it aims to combat “mis- and disinformation.”
“There’s very little ‘truth’ happening on Truth Social, but at least now it’ll be a little fun,” a Biden campaign aide told The Post.
The new account, with the handle BidenHQ, fired off its first post around 1:35 p.m.: “Well. Let’s see how this goes. Converts welcome!”
The Biden campaign then proceeded to taunt and needle Trump by posting a flurry of clips, such as Fox News praising the incumbent and 2024 hopefuls like former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley ripping the 77-year-old former president.
Back in May, a campaign official told an Axios reporter that it absolutely would not join the platform. But on Monday, the campaign told the same outlet: “We changed our mind.”
President Biden’s team has christened him “Dark Brandon” when he goes into troll mode. REUTERS“We just joined Truth Social, mostly because we thought it would be very funny,” the campaign confirmed on X.
Trump started Truth Social in October 2021 after he was banished from Facebook, Instagram, and what was then known as Twitter following the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot.
The platform now serves as a stage for the 45th president to unleash digital tirades against his political and legal foes.

“Crooked Joe Biden and his team are finally acknowledging that Truth Social is hot as a pistol and the only place where real news happens,” Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung told The Post.
“Unfortunately for Biden, his continuation of spreading misinformation to gaslight the American people in order to distract from his disastrous record won’t work and they’ll be ratioed to oblivion.”
The former president was infamous for his use of Twitter, now X, as a micro-blogging platform during his time in the White House. APTruth Social served as a temporary boon for Trump’s net worth, which has since slid off the Forbes 400 list amid a torrent of civil and criminal litigation against him.
Meanwhile, Biden’s campaign has been flush with cash as Republicans joust with one another for the 2024 nomination.
The Biden campaign, the Democratic National Committee and two joint fundraising committees hauled in over $71 million between July 1 and Sept. 30, financial filings show.
President Biden’s team has been toying with different approaches to messaging during the 2024 cycle. APThe Republican Nation Committee is not buttressing any candidate with all its resources until a nominee is selected.
Trump’s campaign pulled in $24.5 million, just below the $24.8 million Biden’s campaign amassed, per Federal Election Commission records.
Both Trump and Biden are the runaway favorites to win their respective party nominations and face off in a rematch of the 2020 vote.
They are also running neck and neck in polling, with Trump eking out a razor-thin 0.8 percentage-point popular-vote edge in the latest RealClearPolitics aggregate.
