From a campaign stop in Michigan, Democratic nominee Joe Biden wished President Trump and first lady Melania Trump a full recovery after the pair tested positive for the coronavirus overnight.

“I’d like to start by acknowledging, which I’m sure all of you do as well, that I’m sending my prayers to the health and safety for first lady and the president of the United States,” Biden told a crowd in Grand Rapids.

“My wife, Jill, and I pray that they will make a full recovery. This is not about politics. This is a bracing reminder to all of us that we have to take this virus seriously,” he went on.

The former veep said he took two coronavirus tests before deciding to fly to Michigan on Friday after he shared a debate stage with Trump in Cleveland on Tuesday.

Trump’s COVID-19 diagnosis has brought dramatic upheaval to the presidential race just 32 days before the election.

While Biden is free to swing through must-win states like Michigan, the president is in quarantine in the White House residence where he is “fatigued” and being treated with a cocktail of drugs, his doctor said.

His campaign has been suspended and will be virtual until further notice, Trump 2020 said Friday.

Wearing a mask himself through the entire duration of the speech, Biden urged Americans to be patriotic and wear a one.

“We have can save 100,000 lives in the next 100 days according to director of the CDC, if everyone wears a mask in public,” he said. “Be patriotic. It’s not about being a tough guy, it’s about doing your part.”

Biden visited the battleground state to tout his economic plan and claw back rural voters, promising to strengthen unions, return manufacturing jobs to the US and raise the corporate tax rate.

“Anyone making less than $400,000 a year won’t pay a penny more,” he said of his plan.
