MANCHESTER, N.H. — New Hampshire’s largest newspaper says it regrets endorsing Chris Christie for president after the Republican New Jersey governor quit the race and backed Donald Trump.

The Union Leader of Manchester began a rueful editorial by saying: “Boy, were we wrong.”

Monday’s commentary by Union Leader publisher Joseph W. McQuaid expressed disappointment at “watching Christie kiss the Donald’s ring.”

Trump won New Hampshire’s first-in-the-nation primary last month. Christie suspended his own presidential campaign after finishing sixth, and on Friday he endorsed Trump.
