California Democrats unleashed a scathing attack on World Cup fans — saying they shouldn’t tune in to the tournament if their politics don’t align with the left.
In a series of posts on social media, the California Democratic Party proclaimed that certain people were “not allowed to watch” the World Cup if they held certain political beliefs.

“You’re not allowed to watch the World Cup if you’ve ever spoken out against DEI,” it added in a follow-up post.
That post was quote-tweeted in a post from the California Republican Party which jabbed, “Not very inclusive of you guys.” The Republican party’s tweet got over 400K views, sparking a flurry of more reactions to the bizarre tweets from the Democratic party.
“The World Cup is a beautiful event that brings people together from around the world and should have nothing to do with politics,” said California Republican Party Communications Manager Francisco Bedoya told The California Post.
“Rather than trolling on social media, they should put their phones down, touch some grass, and enjoy this historic World Cup. But, if Democrats want to make it political and continue to divide Americans, then we’re here to call out their hypocrisy,” he added.
The Democratic party posts led to to mass blowback from critics who found the declarations distasteful.
“Their attitude towards all of America. You’re not allowed unless we say you’re allowed,” one user responded.
“Nobody voted against legal immigration, we voted against illegal immigration. I’m saying this as an immigrant myself,” another added.
“Why? I don’t even understand the logic to this post,” a third chimed in.

There will be seven other matches played at the stadium, including Iran vs. New Zealand, Switzerland vs. Bosnia and Herzegovina, Turkey vs. United States, two Round of 32 matches, and one quarterfinal showdown.
Six other matches will be played at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, bringing the state’s total to 14 games.
