New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie says he turned down several Trump administration jobs because wife Mary Pat told him if he moved to Washington, she wouldn’t go with him.
“[Trump] didn’t offer me a job that I thought was exciting enough for me to leave the governorship. Because Mary Pat made really clear she wasn’t coming to DC,” Christie said Wednesday on WFAN’s “Boomer & Carton” show.
Christie was an early supporter of the president-elect and at one point was considered a leading candidate for a key post in a Trump administration.
But he fell from grace amid the prosecution of two of his staffers in the Bridgegate scandal and a reportedly contentious relationship with Trump son-in-law Jared Kushner.
Trump on Monday told the Wall Street Journal, “At some point, we’re going to do something with Chris.”
