Sen. Chuck Schumer took to Twitter on Monday to troll President Trump — poking fun at the peculiarness of his first public Cabinet meeting, just minutes after it concluded.
The Senate Minority Leader posted a 25-second video around 2 p.m., parodying the televised portion of the roundtable sit-down, which featured glowing remarks from each Cabinet secretary about Trump’s progress so far as POTUS.
The praise ultimately seemed strange to many, seeing how the meetings typically start out with a short statement from the president, followed by detailed talks behind closed doors.
“I want to thank everyone for coming. I just thought we’d go ’round the room,” Schumer says at the start of his video.
“Your tone was perfect,” explains one staffer, in reference to a television appearance he made on Sunday.
“You were right on message,” she says.
Turning to another staffer, Schumer asks: “Michelle, how’d my hair look coming out of the gym this morning?”
To which she replies, “You have great hair. Nobody has better hair than you.”
Quoting directly from Trump’s Cabinet meeting — and comments White House Chief of Staff Reince Preibus made — a third staffer adds: “Before we go any further, I just want to say thank you for the opportunity and blessing to serve your agenda.”
The video, which has been retweeted more than 25,000 times, ends with a shot of Schumer slamming the table and everyone laughing.
