Civil-rights legend and Georgia Rep. John Lewis said he is going to sit out Donald Trump’s inauguration because he doesn’t believe Trump is a “legitimate president.”

“I believe in forgiveness. I believe in trying to work with people. It will be hard. It’s going to be very difficult. I don’t see this president-elect as a legitimate president,” Lewis said in an interview for NBC’s “Meet the Press,” to be broadcast Sunday.

The Georgia Democrat’s remark came after he was asked if he would “forge a relationship” with the next president.

Lewis cited the US intelligence community’s conclusion that Russia interfered in the election.
