An Indiana couple swerved their car toward two teenage boys who had pro-President Trump flags on their bikes — and were caught after posting videos of the incident online, according to a report.
Kyren Perry-Jones, 23, and Cailyn Smith, 18, filmed themselves swerving their Chevrolet Malibu toward the 14-year-old boys as if they “wanted to hit them with the vehicle,” court records said, according to The Northwest Indiana Times.
They yelled expletives at the teens, demanding they “pull that flag down” — eventually snatching one away from the boys and deliberately driving over it, leaving it ripped, the report says.
“Y’all scared, just like your president … America is not great, [expletive],” Smith could be heard saying on a Snapchat video police say they obtained, according to the report.
The alleged attack happened on July 22, but the investigation was delayed as Hobart Police obtained the videos from Snapchat, the report says.
Perry-Jones and Smith were charged last Thursday with two felony counts of intimidation and criminal recklessness, as well as theft and criminal mischief.
APSmith was in custody but Perry-Jones remained at large Friday evening, police said. Online court records do not list attorneys who could speak on behalf of either of them.
“This is an unfortunate event that involved two brothers expressing their support for President Trump,” Capt. James Gonzales told the paper.
“Our residents in Hobart should be able to express their support for any political affiliation without fear of any adverse recourse.”
