Gov. Cuomo said he told President-elect Donald Trump on Wednesday that issues being discussed in Washington “could have a profound effect on New York.”

“We discussed how the ACA affects New York and the pitfalls of a repeal plan, which would be dramatic on the state of New York,” Cuomo said after a 50-minute meeting with the president-elect at Trump Tower.

ACS refers to the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare.

Cuomo also warned about a tax reform plan being floated by GOP lawmakers to eliminate nearly all itemized deductions, including state and local taxes, would be “devastating” to New York.

Cuomo said repealing ObamaCare would leave about three million New Yorkers without medical insurance.

He said he wanted to make sure Trump knew about the repercussions.

“He’s been briefed on the federal side, I wanted to make sure he had the New York State perspective from a budget point of view as he’s considering those federal issues,” Cuomo said.

Trump has called on the GOP-controlled Congress to quickly repeal and replacement President Obama’s signature legislative accomplishment.

“If the federal government does make changes to Obamacare, it’s very important to protect the accomplishments that Obamacare also brought to us,” Cuomo said.
