Former Late night funnyman David Letterman will headline a fundraiser for President Biden in Martha’s Vineyard,  even as a growing din of  Democrats line up to push him out of the race for the White House

The July 29 fundraiser will be held at the home of a family friend of Hawaii Gov. Josh Green.

The president’s campaign also has at least 10 other fundraising events scheduled over the final days of July.

The move to recruit Letterman, who helmed CBS’ “Late Show” for 22 seasons, is a bad joke, critics said.

“Joe Biden’s campaign is so desperate for donors [that] he is now bringing out washed up comedians,” said Republican strategist Garrett Ventry. “Meanwhile, Democrats are frantically calling for him to step aside as Trump and Republicans are crushing them up and down the ballot.”

Another critic slammed the media for propping up Biden’s campaign.

“If Joe Biden survives, it will not be the public or politicians that will save him. It will be the same media that has always protected him for the last few years,” said US Rep. Jeff Van Drew (R-New Jersey). “This is nothing new. Only surprise here, is that David Letterman thinks he’s still relevant.”

The news of Letterman’s bid to help save Biden’s campaign comes as other celebrities, like actor George Clooney and author Steven King, have called on Biden to drop out of the race after his horrible performance in the June 27 debate with GOP Presidential nominee Donald Trump.

Biden insists he’s the best Democrat to beat Trump.

Green has known the Biden family for years — his wife’s uncle was Biden’s college roommate — and he said the decision whether or not to leave the race has to come from Biden himself.

“We support the President, the V.P. and the Democratic Party, in good and tough times because he has been there for us as a family and a state,” he said.
